Job summary

SCCI seeks a Systems Administrator to support a high-performing DoD acquisition program in Dahlgren, VA. You will provide IT customer support, install and configure systems, and assist in RDT&E for Navy equipment and laboratory environments.

The role requires adherence to cybersecurity policies, hands-on LAN/WAN experience, and the ability to work with developers and users on a DoD project. Competitve benefits and security-clearance readiness are offered.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of hands-on technical experience supporting LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet and intranet systems.
• Ability to conduct risk and vulnerability assessment of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs by using required Navy tools.
• Must have a IAT Level II or higher.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, test, and configure Operating Environment (OE) systems for afloat and lab environments.
• Provides inputs and adheres to the Software Release Schedule.
• Ensure the rigorous application of cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems.

Overview

SCCI is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in support of a high-performing DoD acquisition program! In this position you will provide IT customer support and technical assistance to developers and users. This position requires installation, operation, configuration, customization and usage of assigned products installed on tactical systems. Support also includes non-standard propriety support of various test equipment used for Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation (RDT&E) of proof of concept and deployed solutions to the Navy Warfighter. This position is available for immediate hire and will be located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, test, and configure Operating Environment (OE) systems for afloat and lab environments
• Provides inputs and adheres to the Software Release Schedule
• Ensures, where possible, that an automated approach is implemented in all aspects of system administration
• Supports an agile and iterative approach to development, test, build, and release
• Participate in planning, monitoring, testing, maintaining, and operating multiple operating system environments
• Recommend improvements to the Development and Test Environment
• Ensure the rigorous application of cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems
• Perform security assessments using DoD provided tools; report results to the cybersecurity system engineer; and develop strategies to mitigate discrepancies
• Closely support and interact with the cybersecurity system engineers, network engineers, system engineers, and system developers
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network related issues encountered by end users
• Install new software releases and system upgrades
• Evaluate and install patches to resolve software related issues and Information Assurance Vulnerabilities (IAVs)

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active Secret Security Clearance
• High school diploma

General Experience

• Four (4) years of hands-on technical experience supporting LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet and intranet systems. Experience including:
• System backup and recovery
• Basic software management
• Security management
• Library management
• Knowledge of LAN and WAN network operations
• Knowledge of network analysis and problem-solving techniques.
• Ability to conduct risk and vulnerability assessment of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs by using required Navy tools.
• Ability to assess Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) by applying system scans and addressing security events to determine impact and implementing corrective actions; and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security / information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all IT services.

Specialized Experience

• Must have a IAT Level II or higher. This position is designated as IT-1 (i.e., possesses Security+ CE, CISSP, GSEC, SSCP, CASP certifications)
• Basic to advanced Red Hat Linux and Solaris
• Network Protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, and ICMP
• Major network security tools such as firewalls, knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attack methods and latest detection methods
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
