Job summary

SAIC is seeking a System Administrator II to support Windows, Linux, virtualization, network, and tactical computing environments onsite in San Diego, CA. Role involves patching, backups, monitoring, and end-user support with up to 5% travel. Requires US citizenship and an active Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Candidate will collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, engineering, and operational teams to sustain secure, mission-ready systems in fast-moving environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience, or Master's with 0 years related experience
• U.S. Citizen with an Active Secret Clearance to start
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI after start
• Experience as system administrator or related technical role
• Proficient with Linux command line for admin tasks
• Experience supporting Windows and Linux OS, patching, monitoring
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows, Linux, ESXi, network, and tactical computing environments.
• Support patching, vulnerability remediation, security hardening, access control, and audit-ready documentation.
• Monitor server, network, and system performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Assist with backup and recovery procedures and document actions.
• Provide end-user and technical team support and coordinate follow-ups.
• Assist with network infrastructure support including routers, firewalls, VPNs.
• Support tactical systems and data environments including edge servers and containers.
• Maintain system documentation, inventories, and End-of-Life planning inputs.
