Bridgewater Associates in New York City is seeking a Data Engineer to join our systematic China equity team. This hands-on role partners with senior researchers to build data infrastructure and pipelines that power alpha research and production workflows.

You will own the end-to-end data lifecycle—from ingestion and modeling to validation and delivery into research and production systems—collaborating with researchers, quantitative developers, and engineers to create scalable data assets that

Qualifications

• 1-5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or closely related role
• Strong Python and SQL programming; production-quality pipelines
• Fluency in Mandarin required
• Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses
• Familiarity with distributed processing and workflow orchestration (Spark, Airflow)
• Ability to reason about data correctness, lineage, and reproducibility
• Experience with high-dimensional, messy datasets; financial data preferred
• Knowledge of Chinese equity market data sources (e.g., Wind) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new datasets to enhance investment processes
• Own end-to-end lifecycle of key datasets from ingestion to maintenance
• Develop and maintain scalable data models and schemas for investment concepts
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for China equity research and production workflows
• Collaborate with researchers, developers, and engineering to translate research needs into data assets
• Profile datasets to understand distributions, coverage, and stability
