Job summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking a System Vice President, Total Rewards to provide enterprise-wide oversight of Benefits, Compensation, and Occupational and Employee Health. The role drives strategic direction, system alignment, and fosters top talent across the Dartmouth Health system.

The successful candidate will lead with an executive presence, financial acumen, and experience partnering with Board-level governance.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and at least 10 years of progressive leadership in Total Rewards within a complex organization.
  • Healthcare experience preferred; professional certifications such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CCP, CEBS are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Define philosophy, priorities, and decision-making frameworks for compensation and benefits to ensure competitiveness, equity, and sustainability.
  • Provide strategic guidance and operational oversight of Occupational Medicine and Employee Health & Wellness across all system sites.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the executive team and governance committees.

Dartmouth Health is pleased to announce a national search for its next System Vice President, Total Rewards.

This high-profile system leader will provide enterprise-wide oversight of Benefits, Compensation, and Occupational and Employee Health. The role emphasizes strategic direction, system alignment, and the fostering of top talent across the Dartmouth Health system.

About the job:

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer for Dartmouth Health, the System Vice President is responsible for defining the philosophy, priorities, and decision‑making frameworks that ensure the system’s compensation and benefits programs are competitive, equitable, compliant, and financially sustainable. The role is also accountable for providing strategic guidance and operational oversight of Occupational Medicine and Employee Health & Wellness across all system sites.

*This role requires an onsite presence. Candidates must be willing to live within a commutable distance to Dartmouth Health headquarters in Lebanon, NH.

The successful candidate will have proven leadership skills as a business partner with an executive‑level presence, financial acumen, and the ability to interact successfully with a variety of departments and external partners. They will also have experience supporting Board‑level governance and fiduciary committees.

Minimum qualifications:

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and have a minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Total Rewards within a complex, multi‑entity organization.

Healthcare experience is strongly preferred, as well as professional certifications such as SPHR, SHRM‑SCP, CCP, CEBS, etc.

  • Pay Range: $2,080.00/Yr. - $2,079,979.20/Yr. (Based on 40 hours per week, otherwise pro rata)
