Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering, computer science or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience with at least 5 years of team management.
• Excellent working knowledge of OS (Linux, Windows, Unix etc.)
• Working understanding of Server/Storage system architecture.
• Excellent scripting and test automation (Python, Linux Bash).
• System hardware/software integration skills.
• Experience with networking and networking protocols.
• Understanding of SES, BMC, Redfish, BIOS testing requirements.
• Basic knowledge of Git.
• Basic knowledge of Jira/Bugzilla.
• Good communication skills to interact with colleagues, external customers and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage SVT test engineers and technical writing staff for Viking designed server and storage products.
• Establish processes for system validation testing of Viking designed products.
• Establish and maintain JIRA tracking and reporting for all customer issues.
• Collaborate with Storage/Server Firmware team to provide feedback on quality and conformance.
• Develop test plans for product validation with test scripts.
• Execute product test plans against objectives and schedules.
• Document test execution results for audit purposes.
• Support sustaining and development by reproducing failing environments for debugging.
• Document failing test cases in JIRA and participate in team reviews.
• Build and maintain labs and lab infrastructure.
• Drive test automation enhancements for labs and processes.
• Deliver bi-weekly SVT/FAE status readouts to exec staff.
• Develop and execute a capabilities roadmap for SVT team.

Job Scope

In this role, the System Validation and Testing Manager will lead a team responsible for product validation of cutting edge data storage and server product designs in Colorado Springs. This person will be part of the Viking Engineering organization accountable for validation of our storage and server product designs. The SVT team is also responsible for replicating field issues related to BIOS/BMC firmware, application software and various operating systems. Candidate may be required to engage with our external partners to resolve problems. The ideal candidate will have a successful record of accomplishment leading a product validation team as well as independently composing test scripts, executing on those scripts and documenting the results for audit purposes. Role also requires the use of JIRA for tracking issues reported. Note, initially, this is a small team, the candidate is required to be a "working manager" who can perform individual contributor tasks while leading the team.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Manage team of SVT test engineers and Technical writing staff to support Viking designed server and storage products.
• Establish processes and procedures for system validation testing of Viking designed server and storage products.
• Establish and maintain JIRA tracking and reporting guidelines for all customer reported issues
• Working closely with Storage/Server Firmware team to provide feedback on product quality, performance and conformance to documented requirements.
• Working closely with firmware and test engineers to develop test plans for product validation.
• Develop test scripts that exercise product designs and requirements with the objective to establish pass/fail criteria.
• Execute product test plans against committed objectives and schedules.
• Provide and maintain test execution results that can later be used to audit the program.
• Support sustaining and development efforts by replicating failing environments and reproducing reported failures for purposes of debug and problem resolution.
• Document failing test cases in JIRA
• Participate in regular team meetings on product reviews
• Building systems in a lab environment
• Maintaining lab infrastructure and equipment
• Drive continual improvement and automation enhancements for test labs
• Replicate customer configurations in our lab and perform qualification and issue debug
• Actively drive test results and product improvement feedback into the design teams
• Deliver a bi-weekly SVT and FAE status readout to exec staff.
• Develop and execute a capabilities roadmap for the SVT team

Required Education And Experience

• BS degree in engineering, computer science or related field
• Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience with at least 5 years of team management experience
• Excellent working knowledge of various OS (Linux, Windows, Unix etc.)
• Working understanding of Server/Storage system architecture
• Excellent working knowledge in scripting language and test automation (Python, Linux Bash)
• System Hardware/Software integration skills
• Experience with networking and networking protocols
• Understanding of SES, BMC, Redfish, BIOS testing requirements
• Basic knowledge of software version control (GIT)
• Basic knowledge of issue and project tracking software (Jira, Bugzilla)
• Good communication skills to interact with colleagues, external customers and engineering teams

Preferred Education And Experience

• Preferred experienced in testing of BMC, BIOS and SES firmware for storage/server applications
• WHQL test experience
• Linux certification for IT professional (CompTIA Linux+, Linux Foundation Certified Engineer, Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator, Linux Professional Institute, Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Certified Specialist, Red Hat Certified System Administrator)
• Microsoft certifications (Microsoft Certified System Engineer, Microsoft Azure Certification, others)

Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package.
