Job summary

Viking Enterprise Solutions in California is seeking a Production Test Technician to perform failure analysis, repair, and troubleshooting of data storage and server products. You will diagnose field returns and factory line failures, and relay findings to Engineering and Operations teams.

You will train factory staff for level 1 and 2 debug, support RMA testing, and help calibrate and maintain test equipment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a relevant computer science or engineering technology field.
• 5+ years hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting electronic products.
• Ability to read schematics, BOMs and PCBs; interpret component data sheets.
• Experience in an ESD-controlled environment with traceable calibration.

Production Test Technician (Product Troubleshooting, Failure Analysis and Repair)

Job Purpose:

This Production Test Technician role is part of the VES Engineering team and is responsible for performing failure analysis and repair of data storage / server products. This includes diagnosing field return and factory line failures as required. This role will provide perform failure analysis of products and provide findings to Engineering and Operations teams. Where required, this role will require direct interaction with the Engineering, Quality and Operations teams to turn these findings into corrective actions such as product design, component selection and MFG processes. Where applicable, this role also provides initial level 1 and level 2 FA training to factory debug personnel to enable them to perform first level analysis of field and factory failures. This role will also support RMA testing and repairs, and provide technical support to Manufacturing and Engineering teams as required.

Nature of Duties:

• Troubleshoot and root-cause analysis for VES products
• Working with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality teams on corrective actions where needed.
• Work with VES Quality for customer FA / 8D reporting.
• General Test and Repair for RMA products
• Manage VES test area to ensure needed equipment is in place, calibrated and in good working condition.
• Provide training to factory debug staff for level 1 and 2 debug and problem analysis

Required Education and Experience:

• Associates degree (or equivalent) in a relevant computer science and/or engineering technology discipline
• 5+ years experience working on electronic products in a hands-on test and troubleshooting role using oscilloscopes, DMMs, device readers/programming adapters, etc…
• Ability to read schematics, BOMs, ability to view and understand PCB layout with Cadence (Allegro) PCB design tool, ability to understand component data sheets, troubleshooting device-level failures.
• Experience working in an ESD controlled environment
• Experience working in an environment requiring traceable calibrated equipment and the ability to manage calibration schedule and services to maintain calibration on all equipment used.
• Understanding of common manufacturing processes to include Functional Test, In-Circuit Test, Flying Probe and common assembly techniques.
• Working experience with Failure Analysis and 8D processes and objectives.
• Proficiency with Windows and common Office products used to communicate findings.
• Proficient in English speaking, reading and writing.

Preferred Experienc e:

• 5+ years experience working on server or data storage based products in a hands-on test and troubleshooting role using oscilloscopes, DMMs, device readers/programming adapters, etc…
• Working knowledge of server and storage products
• Basic Linux OS and scripting experience
• Knowledge of network cabling, routing and set up
• Experience working in a production electronics factory

Salary Range(annual): $62,400.00 - $71,240.00

Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package.
