Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in computer technology, electronics, or related discipline; equivalent technical experience considered.
  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in systems testing, computer hardware diagnostics, or related technical roles.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux environments, BIOS/UEFI configuration, hardware troubleshooting, and basic scripting (Python, shell, or similar).
  • Experience working with electronic components, PCB assemblies, and supporting documentation such as schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute automated and manual test procedures on integrated hardware and software systems.
  • Set up, configure, and verify test environments including operating systems, BIOS settings, drivers, networks, and peripheral hardware.
  • Perform hardware diagnostics at the board and component level using schematics, diagrams, test fixtures, and electronic measurement tools.
  • Analyze system performance data, identify deviations, and produce clear, detailed reports covering results, anomalies, and corrective recommendations.
  • Document and track defects in hardware and software using systems such as JIRA.
  • Verify compliance with internal specifications, industry standards, and ruggedization/military requirement guidelines.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of failed units and collaborate with hardware, software, and manufacturing engineers on corrective actions and retest activities.

Systel Careers – Test Evaluation System Specialist – Sugar Land, TX

We are seeking a dynamic System Test Specialist to join our team at Systel. You will join the Systems Test Team at Systel, which is responsible for completing tests and validation of the first article Engineering units as well as providing support to multiple departments in the organization. This critical role ensures that our rugged computer solutions meet the rigorous standards required to reliably perform mission-critical operations in harsh environments. This position is full-time onsite (in-person) at our headquarters in Sugar Land, TX. Please note that some travel may be required.


Who You Are

You are a detail‑oriented, self‑motivated technical professional with strong hands‑on experience in computer electronics and system‑level testing. You excel in environments that require precision, adaptability, and clear communication. You are comfortable working collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams and can manage shifting priorities without losing focus. You bring a solid understanding of hardware and software interactions, and you’re able to interpret engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, and component‑level documentation with confidence. You value continuous improvement and actively contribute to advancing processes, tools, and test methodologies.
