About This Role:

Help evaluate a connected cardiac monitoring system across wearable hardware, embedded software, applications, tools, and infrastructure. You will learn how system requirements become test cases and how engineers verify expected behavior and potential failure conditions. Working across disciplines, you will execute tests, document objective evidence, investigate unexpected results, and help confirm that corrections are effective before release. As a System Test Engineer Co-Op you'll help ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of our wearable device and its supporting software and infrastructure. You'll help evaluate a connected cardiac monitoring system across wearable hardware, embedded software, applications, tools, and infrastructure. You will learn how system requirements become test cases and how engineers verify expected behavior and potential failure conditions. Working across disciplines, you will execute tests, document objective evidence, investigate unexpected results, and help confirm that corrections are effective before release.

Assignment Details

This is a full-time, six-month Engineering Internship / Cooperative Education (Co-op) assignment for a current student. It offers internship-style learning, mentorship, and meaningful project work, but it is not a traditional summer internship. Candidates must be available for the full January through June 2027 assignment in San Francisco.

Full-time | January through June 2027 | San Francisco, California | $35.00 per hour

Responsibilities & Opportunities:

Specific job responsibilities and opportunities may include:

• Use requirements for our medical device and software to write test cases that check both whether the features work as intended and whether they can fail under certain conditions.
• Confirm that the software tools we use in development and testing (but that aren't part of the medical device itself) work correctly and reliably.
• Record and share your test results in a clear way (for example, in reports or Jira tickets) so the team can easily understand the issue and take action.
• Look into problems, try to reproduce them, and test fixes to make sure the issue is really resolved before release

About You:

• Pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Ability to commit to time frame of June - December 2026.
• Hands‑on experience with electrical equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, etc.).
• Able to share ideas clearly and work both on your own and with teammates from different areas.

Bonus Points for preferred qualifications

• Prior experience in medical devices or another regulated industry.
• Scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL) and familiarity with software development processes
