Job summary

Insight Global seeks Systems Test Engineers to support an FAA modernization initiative focused on transitioning legacy air traffic control communications to Voice over IP. You will travel across the United States (up to 70%) to deploy, test, and validate IP-based voice systems at FAA facilities.

You will develop and execute test plans, document results, generate defect and action reports, and ensure all activities comply with FAA quality standards and program requirements.

Qualifications

• 3-25+ years of experience in Network/Communications/Systems Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on testing and troubleshooting of VoIP systems.
• Experience with IP networking concepts and protocols.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 70%) across the U.S.
• Eligible to obtain FAA Public Trust Clearance.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a team Systems Test Engineers to support a high-visibility FAA modernization initiative focused on transitioning legacy air traffic control communications infrastructure to advanced Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies. This role is critical in ensuring reliable, secure, and effective communications between Air Traffic Control (ATC) facilities and pilots nationwide.

The ideal candidate will have experience testing and validating IP-based voice communication systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to support deployments at FAA facilities across the United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing, validation, and verification of VoIP systems supporting FAA communications infrastructure.
• Deploy, configure, and test IP-based voice communication systems at customer sites.
• Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and test cases in accordance with program requirements.
• Document test results and generate detailed test reports, defect reports, and corrective action recommendations.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues identified during testing activities.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to maintain and update the Verification Requirements Traceability Matrix (VRTM).
• Support system acceptance testing, integration efforts, and field validation activities.
• Ensure all testing activities are performed in compliance with FAA and program quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• 3-25+ years of experience in Network Engineering, Communications Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting VoIP communication systems.
• Experience with IP networking concepts, protocols, and communications infrastructure.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 70%) throughout the United States.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (This is required for certain labor categories.)
• Experience supporting FAA, DoD, or other federal government communications systems.
• Familiarity with air traffic control, telecommunications, or mission-critical communications environments.
• Knowledge of network testing tools, packet analysis, and system integration testing methodologies.
