Job summary

BTI Solutions, Inc. in San Jose, CA seeks a System Storage Administrator to engineer and support storage, virtualization, and infrastructure across Linux and Windows environments.

You will install, configure, and optimize servers, storage arrays, and related services to meet project and operational needs. The role requires experience with backups, security, patching, automation (Ansible), and cross-functional collaboration with VMs, networks, and vendors.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Linux system administration experience.
• High skill level with VMware and storage systems (NetApp, Pure Storage).
• Experience with Ansible, Jira, Git, Jenkins, LDAP.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure servers and storage per standards and requirements.
• Perform daily system monitoring, patch management, and backup/recovery operations.
• Provide Tier III support and troubleshoot Linux/Windows/VMware issues.
• Maintain security posture and coordinate with vendors on storage/networking.
• Automate tasks with Ansible and manage virtualization and storage tooling.

System Storage AdminResponsibilities:Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needsInstall new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.Virtualization platform (VMware, KVM, and other)Storage management (Netapp, Dell/EMC, PureStorage, and others)Renew storage server maintenance and recommend storage server optionsExperience storage provisioning, system monitoring, backup/Recovery, access controlInfra automation tools(ansible) supportForeman deployment managementSystem inventory system (GLPI)Network equipment management (Cisco, Mellanox, and others)Install and configure systems which support infrastructure and/or R&D activitiesDevelop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.Configure/maintain storage equipment and troubleshoot with vendors.Configure/install EDA tools, FlexLM licenses, and troubleshoot software tool issues.Contribute to and maintain system standardsContribute to and maintain security posture of the systemsResearch and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resourcesOperations and SupportInstall and maintain security patches on the operational and development system, which includes but is not limited to, Red Hat Linux (Centos, Ubuntu…etc.), Windows 2008/2k8R2/2k12, VMWare, and Apache web servicesReport Security Patch compliancePerform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backupsPerform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessaryPerform regular file archival and purge as necessary.Create, change, and delete user accounts per request as necessary.Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.MaintenanceApply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessaryManage existing and/or deploy new instances of Jirra, Git, LDAP, Jenkins, VMWare environments.Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needsMaintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as requiredAfter hours and weekend support and/or alternative work schedules are required at various points in the yearJOB REQUIREMENTSEspecially high skill level of VMware admin and management, also including but not limiting, Jenkins, GIT, DevOps tool administrationSystems Administration/System Engineer certification in Linux+, e.g., CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) preferredHigh skill level in managing storage servers (NetApp, Pure Storage)Storage provisioning, system monitoring, backup/Recovery, access controlNetwork equipment management, Cisco equipment preferred,7+ years of system administration experience in Linux environments and proficient in tasks such as shell scripting, creating corn jobs, analyzing log files, managing user accounts and groups, configuring iptables, and setting up mail services.Proven ability to multi-taskIndependent, self-starterAbility to effectively communicate (verbal and written correspondence) in a professional and courteous manner with technical and non-technical personnelCompTIA Security+ (SY0-301) or other DoD 8570.1 Workplace Improvement Plan IAT Level II compliant certification required (or equivalent experience)Familiarity with web-based technologies, including but not limited to, reverse proxy servers, SSL certificate configuration, three-tier architecture, and service oriented architecture, enterprise service bus, http, and differences between browsersAble to lift 50 lbsAble to move servers to and from main DC to the colocation and labsInstall new hardware or migrate existing servers (rack and stack)Pay Range: $31.00/hour to $46.00/hourBenefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k)retirement plan; paid sick leave; life, accidental death & dismemberment(AD&D), and long-term disability (LTD) insurance; and optional voluntarylife/AD&D coverage.
