Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin seeks a System Software Engineering Scientist Associate for the Applied Research Laboratories at the Pickle Research Campus. You will design, implement and test high‑performance C++ software for large sonar and networked systems running Linux, with containerized, orchestrated deployment.

Responsibilities include distributed software development, rigorous unit/system testing, and thorough documentation. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Proficient in defining and documenting complex coding relationships in object oriented structures.
  • Proficient in C++ software development in Linux.
  • Ability to follow coding and testing standards.
  • Experience with Linux and open source tools for development and version control.
  • US Citizenship is required for eligibility for access to certain project information.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high performance, systems-based software in C++ for control, health, status monitoring, signal processing and GUI components on Linux.
  • Develop distributed software in C++ that runs in a containerized, orchestrated environment.
  • Incrementally test and troubleshoot software with unit and system level verification.
  • Document design, implementation and test results clearly and address issues.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
