The Security Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise-level physical security systems, with a primary focus on Lenel S2 access control platforms. This role supports mission-critical infrastructure by ensuring the reliability, integrity, and performance of integrated security technologies including access control, video surveillance (CCTV/VMS), and intrusion detection systems.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in low-voltage systems, networked security applications, and system integration, and can operate both independently and collaboratively in dynamic commercial or industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
Security Systems Engineering & Administration
- Administer, configure, and support Lenel S2 access control systems, including database management, user provisioning, system upgrades, and patching
- Program and troubleshoot access control hardware such as door controllers, badge readers, panels, relays, and power supplies
- Design and implement system enhancements, expansions, and integrations with other enterprise platforms
Installation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on low-voltage security systems (24V AC/DC), including access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV systems
- Troubleshoot communication issues across TCP/IP-based systems, field devices, and controllers
- Conduct preventive maintenance, system audits, and lifecycle upgrades to ensure optimal system performance
Video Surveillance & Integrated Systems
- Maintain and support IP-based video surveillance systems (VMS), including camera configuration, firmware updates, and network connectivity
- Ensure proper camera placement, field of view, and recording integrity
- Support integrations between access control and video systems for event correlation and monitoring
Network & Systems Integration
- Work with IT teams to configure VLANs, IP addressing, and network security for physical security devices
- Integrate security systems with enterprise tools (e.g., Active Directory, identity management systems)
- Utilize and support communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and ONVIF where applicable
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate system documentation (as-builts, wiring diagrams, network topology, and configuration baselines)
- Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and site-specific safety and operational standards
- Document incidents, service activities, and system changes in service management platforms
- Provide on-call support and rapid response to system outages or security incidents
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors for escalations and project delivery
