Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. in Crane, IN is seeking a Safety Engineer to oversee system safety programs across assembly, integration, and test operations in high-hazard aerospace environments.

This role collaborates with engineering, facility staff, and operations to identify hazards, evaluate risk, implement controls, and ensure compliance with DoD, OSHA, customer, and internal safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of system safety principles and standards (e.g., MIL-STD-882).
• Experience performing hazard analyses, risk assessments, and safety evaluations.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers, technicians, facility personnel, and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with OSHA, DoD, or aerospace safety requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• Professional safety certifications such as ASP, CSP, CSHM, or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience in system safety, aerospace safety, or safety engineering roles.

Responsibilities

• Support development and execution of system safety programs in accordance with MIL-STD-882 and related standards.
• Perform hazard analyses, risk assessments, and safety evaluations across engineering, integration, testing, and facility operations.
• Assist in developing and enforcing safety protocols for AI&T and broader engineering activities.
• Prepare, update, and maintain safety documentation including Hazard Tracking Logs and Safety Reports.
• Support mission assurance activities by verifying compliance with safety and quality requirements throughout the lifecycle.
• Interface with government representatives, auditors, and customer safety authorities regarding compliance and alignment.
