Job summary

Woven by Toyota seeks a systems-minded safety engineer to translate safety goals into concrete, verifiable designs that ship in production ECUs for AD/ADAS software. You will allocate safety requirements, define safety concepts, and ensure diagnostics, redundancy, and safety envelopes are in place with proper monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, EE, ME or related discipline.
• 3+ years in safety-critical automotive or aerospace systems in production.
• Demonstrated ownership of safety concepts and requirements allocations to production ECUs.
• Experience with ISO 26262 and familiarity with SOTIF (ISO 21448).
• Hands-on with V&V, including HIL/vehicle test design, coverage tactics, and KPI definition.
• Knowledge of embedded software fundamentals (C/C++, Python) and automotive interfaces (CAN, SOME/IP).
• Strong cross-functional communication, influence, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Allocate safety requirements (system → software components) with interfaces, state machines, timing budgets, and acceptance criteria.
• Define and guide implementation of safety mechanisms (diagnostics, redundancy, watchdogs, plausibility checks) and verify effectiveness.
• Collaborate with V&V to design safety verification strategies and derive pass/fail criteria for the Safety Case.
• Contribute evidence and risk assessments to the Safety Case and present to stakeholders and auditors.
• Lead analyses (FMEA/FMEDA, FTA, interface hazard reviews) and feed findings into design updates.
• Coordinate with Safety Architecture, Systems Engineering, ML Safety, and Cybersecurity for co-engineering of safety and security.
• Drive change impact analysis for CRs, deviations, and waivers to preserve safety intent and traceability.
• Review requirements, designs, and test plans to close gaps quickly.
