Butler America Aerospace, LLC is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer II for a 6- to 12-month contract in Woburn, MA. You will contribute to MIL STD 882E compliant safety programs, perform analyses, and collaborate with engineering teams to eliminate hazards while preserving performance.

The role offers an hourly W2 arrangement with benefits, and requires close interaction with customers, program offices, and vendors to ensure safety requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • Performs MIL STD 882 safety analyses across task series 100–400.
  • Collaborates with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure safety and performance.
  • Reviews engineering drawings for fault tolerance and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with System Safety Program or Design analyses.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines during program execution.
  • Interface with customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Assist in preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs.
  • Assist briefing safety during technical reviews and approvals.
  • Review system requirements and military standards.
  • Prepare internal and customer reports on analyses.

Systems Safety Engineer

Location: Woburn, MA

Pay Range: $81-90 ph (W2)

Duration: 6 - 12 mos

As a System Safety Engineer II, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with and implementing one or more MIL STD 882E compliant system safety programs
  • Performing MIL STD 882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400)
  • Assisting with analysis of engineering hardware and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance
  • Working with test and tactical operating and maintenance procedures to assure the proper administrative controls are in place
  • Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls

Provide creative solutions to maximize safety functionality without impeding critical performance.

Responsibilities to Anticipate
  • Assist with design of concise, testable safety requirements or providing safety analysis of existing requirements
  • Assist with performing System Safety Program or Design analyses
  • Collaborating with other disciplines during program technical execution
  • Interfacing with key stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
  • Assisting in preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
  • Assisting with briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
  • Reviewing Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
  • Assisting in preparation internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
