We’re looking for a System Safety Engineer to develop, implement, and support safety programs for complex defense and aerospace systems. This role is ideal for candidates experienced with MIL‑STD‑882E, hazard analysis, and cross-disciplinary engineering collaboration.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain MIL‑STD‑882E compliant System Safety Programs
- Perform System Safety tasks including management (100 series), analysis (200 series), evaluation (300 series), and verification (400 series)
- Collaborate with integrated product teams to identify hazards, reduce risks, and implement effective safety controls
- Work with customer safety representatives to clarify requirements and ensure safety considerations are properly allocated across software, hardware, and test teams
- Partner with Program Management and government stakeholders from program initiation through production, demilitarization, and disposal
- Conduct System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and detailed design evaluations
- Present safety findings during technical reviews and through formal safety approval processes
- Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards
- Prepare clear and detailed internal and customer-facing safety reports
- Work across multiple engineering disciplines to understand system architecture and design impacts
- Interface closely with Systems Engineering, Software/Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams
- Lead or support System Safety Working Groups with internal teams and customer representatives

- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical, program, and customer teams
- Strong communication skills, including presenting complex safety considerations
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries preferred
