Job summary

1000 Methodist Le Bonheur Corp in Memphis, TN seeks a Pharmacist leader to oversee operations across MLH facilities. You will direct budgeting, staff development, regulatory compliance, and formulary coordination to ensure high standards of patient care.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Oversee pharmacy operations for two or more MLH facilities.
  • Plan, implement, direct, and control activities, operations, and programs in the Pharmacy department, and coordinate pharmacy activities and operations among all MLH facilities.
  • Model appropriate behavior exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and control Pharmacy operations; monitor operations to keep informed and to ensure that professional and hospital standards are being met.
  • Direct the activities of management and clerical associates; monitor associates' performance and clarify work expectations; motivate associates; promote cooperation among individuals and groups.
  • Indirectly supervise professional and service associates.
  • Plan and conduct activities for staff development.
  • Maintain own professional knowledge through continuing education activities.
  • Manage and administer hospital policies and procedures involving associates, including staffing activities, corrective action, and performance appraisal.
  • Prepare an annual expense budget and capital requests for the Pharmacy department; monitor the budget and other financial indicators during the year.
  • Develop and implement plans to control costs and improve department operations.
  • Participate in coordination of formulary, clinical policy, and operating policies and procedures for Pharmacy with other MLH Pharmacies.
  • Serve on MLH Pharmacy Planning and Operations Committee.
  • Develop and maintain quality improvement programs for Pharmacy.
  • Ensure that productivity and QA data is compiled and reports are prepared for MLH management and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in pharmacy education activities; propose enhancements for academic programs.
  • Assume active role in pharmacy-related portions of educational programs for medical staff and other medical personnel.
  • Encourage and model good working relationships between medical staff and department associates.
Education Requirements
  • Doctorate Pharmacy (Required)
  • Master's Degree Business Administration (Preferred)
  • Master's Degree Healthcare Administration (Preferred)
Work Experience Requirements
  • Progressive management in a hospital pharmacy 5-7 years (Required)
Licensing and Certifications
  • Pharmacist Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Pharmacy (Preferred)
  • Pharmacy Technician - Mississippi - Mississippi Board of Pharmacy (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of pharmacy principles and procedures commensurate with education/experience.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy administration principles and methods commensurate with education/experience.
  • Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials, such as business plans.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with all levels of associates, management, physicians and patients and their families.
  • Ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups of people toward the accomplishment of work and organizational goals.
  • Skill in negotiating with and between individuals and groups of people, including associates, management and physicians.
Supervision

Provides direct and indirect supervision for all pharmacy associates.

Physical Demands

The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work. The Associate is required to travel locally occasionally.
