Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States Missouri is seeking a Validation Engineer focused on end-to-end integration and validation within automotive systems. You will own the validation readiness, including strategy documents, plans, execution, and evidence closure across vehicle interfaces, hardware, and software.

The role requires planning across benches, HIL/SIL, and real vehicles, plus strong collaboration across functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in vehicle systems, validation, or testing.
  • Foundational knowledge of vehicle systems, interfaces and failure modes.
  • Hands-on testing experience on benches or vehicles.
  • Ability to plan, execute tests, and compare results to requirements.
  • Exposure to issue management and root-cause analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end integration and validation of Power Moding and Vehicle State systems within the Access and Security domain.
  • Own validation readiness, including validation strategy, ADV plan content, execution planning, issue tracking, and evidence closure.
  • Build system-level understanding of feature behavior, interfaces, variants, and failure modes.
  • Plan and execute analysis and testing across benches, HIL/SIL, virtual environments, and vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle-level integration issues involving hardware, software, calibration, networking, wiring, diagnostics, and system interactions.
  • Translate stakeholder needs and feature intent into test objectives and executable test cases.
  • Decompose requirements into validation coverage for nominal behavior, failure modes, diagnostics, and use‑case variation.
  • Maintain ADV plans, change‑management updates, traceability, test status, and evidence packages using GM tools.
  • Execute functional, environmental, performance, safety, and quality validation.
  • Conduct exploratory evaluations, regression and automation activities, benchmarking, and virtual validation.
  • Support regulatory, self‑certification, type‑approval, and compliance evidence activities.
  • Identify, document, triage, and drive closure of integration and validation issues.
  • Perform preliminary root‑cause analysis and coordinate resolution with engineering, software, calibration, suppliers, regulatory, plant, launch, and field teams.
  • Participate in integration workshops, issue triage meetings, and governance reviews.
  • Provide feedback and process improvements to the SIVE operating model.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer, Systems, or related discipline)
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience in vehicle systems, validation, integration, testing, or closely related work
  • Foundational knowledge of vehicle systems, interfaces, and failure modes
  • Hands‑on experience with system- or feature‑level testing on benches and/or vehicles
  • Ability to plan and execute tests, capture results, and compare outcomes to requirements or acceptance criteria
  • Exposure to issue management and root‑cause analysis
  • Ability to work under general guidance while exercising independent judgment on standard tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions
  • GM does not provide immigration‑related sponsorship; candidates must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle regularly and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review
  • Willingness/ability to travel less than 25%
