Job description

Base pay range:

$59.00/hr - $60.00/hr

Summary: We have an exciting opportunity for a System Integration Engineer in Client’s Electrification & Advanced Power Solutions Division. This position will work with experienced electric powertrain technical leads to understand customer, business, and regulation requirements and have accountability for developing ePowertrain solutions for construction and mining equipment to meet emissions reduction goals.

You will:

  • Develop and compile application requirements for performance, interfaces, safety.
  • Evaluate powertrain architectures, develop concept layouts and support component selection.
  • Identify design/development leverage opportunities for components and systems.
  • Collaborate extensively with assigned technical leads and development partners.
  • Coordinate work with simulation experts to aid decision making.
  • Conduct trade-off analysis using key metrics (performance, TCO, R&D investment).
  • Identify HV electrical system solutions, recommend components and develop system schematics.
  • Support development builds and validation.
  • Troubleshoot electric powertrain systems to resolve electrical and mechanical component and system challenges.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years (8+ for advanced degrees) of relevant product development experience.
  • Ability to interrogate existing system designs and develop new solutions.
  • Experience with creation of detailed electrical schematics, leveraging industry standards.
  • Ability to apply principles of electrical theory to electric powertrain design.
  • Experience with HV (> 50V) component and system design and/or validation.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to efficiently work with process partners and internal customers.
  • Experience with design and simulation tools/software; Creo mechanical/electrical, matlab, pspice, etap.
  • Aware of electrical safety standards; ISO 60204/14990, NFPA 70E, Arc Flash.

Top Candidate Qualifications:

  • Experience in performance analysis and simulation at machine or system level.
  • Electric drive vehicle design (off highway and/or on highway).
  • Testing of HV electrical components, systems, machines.
  • Design of electric or mechanical drivetrain systems.
  • Experience with HV systems > 500V.
  • Selection and/or design of motors, generators, charging solutions.
  • Application knowledge of power electronics, power conversion systems, power distribution, protections.
  • Knowledge of machine or systems controls development and validation.
  • Experience developing component and system requirements and aligning designs to requirements.
  • Experience with interpreting and aligning design solutions to standards; ISO 60204/14990, NFPA 70E, Arc Flash.
  • Experience developing interface diagrams and leveraging them in design solutions.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $59.00 - $60.00 per hour. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience and the benefits package you select. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages. Packages may include medical, dental, and vision benefits, 10 paid days off, 401(k) plan participation, commuter benefits and life and disability insurance.
