Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a System Integration Engineer in Southern California to lead the integration, validation and launch of low-voltage battery and wireless vehicle access systems.

You will collaborate across software, controls, security, purchasing and manufacturing to ensure quality, reliability and manufacturing readiness. This role emphasizes system-level definition, debugging, and DVP&R execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 5+ years in automotive electrical systems or low-voltage vehicle systems.
• 3+ years launching electronic products in manufacturing.
• Experience with CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, UDS, OBD diagnostics.
• Strong troubleshooting across electrical, software and networks.
• Experience with requirements management tools and processes.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and PM skills.
• Preferred: vehicle prototyping and automotive product launches.
• Background with RF, BLE, UWB, NFC or wireless vehicle access.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, secure provisioning and credential management.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, HARA and reliability methods.
• Familiarity with OTA updates, bootloaders and software release processes.
• Systems engineering mindset with execution focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead integration and validation of low-voltage battery and wireless key systems.
• Drive component industrialization and production readiness including diagnostics and VIN programming.
• Collaborate with Software, Controls, Security, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Suppliers.
• Own debugging and root cause analysis across electrical, software and vehicle networks.
• Develop and execute DVP&R plans, quality strategies and validation testing.
• Support vehicle builds, launches, ramp-up and issue resolution.
• Define system requirements, interfaces and technical specs for hardware, software, RF and networks.
• Track progress and present status at milestones.

Job Description: FORD - System Integration Engineer - Long Beach CA OR Palo Alto CA

Ford is seeking an experienced System Integration Engineer to lead the development, integration, validation, and launch of low-voltage battery and wireless vehicle access systems. This role will focus on bringing complex electronic components from design through high-volume production while ensuring quality, reliability, and manufacturing readiness.

What You'll Do

• Lead the integration and validation of low-voltage battery and wireless keyfob/access systems across bench, lab, and vehicle environments
• Drive component industrialization and production readiness, including diagnostics, VIN programming, and end-of-line testing
• Partner with Software, Controls, Security, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams to deliver components on time and within budget
• Own debugging and root cause analysis across electrical, software, and vehicle network systems
• Develop and execute DVP&R plans, quality strategies, and validation testing
• Support vehicle builds, launch activities, production ramp-up, and issue resolution
• Define system requirements, interfaces, and technical specifications for hardware, software, RF, and network communications
• Track engineering progress and present status updates at key program milestones

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience with automotive electrical systems, electronics, or low-voltage vehicle systems
• 3+ years of experience launching electronic products in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, UDS, and OBD diagnostics
• Proven troubleshooting experience across electrical, software, and communication networks
• Experience with requirements management tools and processes
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Experience with vehicle prototyping and automotive product launches
• Background with RF, BLE, UWB, NFC, or wireless vehicle access technologies
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, secure provisioning, and credential management
• Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, HARA, and other reliability/quality methodologies
• Familiarity with OTA updates, bootloaders, and software release processes
• Strong systems engineering mindset with a focus on execution and continuous improvement
