Job description

We made history and now we work to transform the future for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

Ford’s Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is charged with delivering the company’s vision of a fully electric transportation future. EVDD is customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data-driven and is dedicated to delivering industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You’ll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out. Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams.

In this position...

Body controls is the subsystem the customer physically touches every time they use the vehicle. As the industry shifts to software-defined vehicles, every one of those interactions has become a cross-functional problem spanning electrical hardware, software, and network communication.

What you'll do...
  • Own end-to-end integration of body controls components from component hardware specification through bench bring-up, vehicle validation, and production launch
  • Own component-level bring-up and debug on benches, bucks, labcars, and vehicles, defining the process, running it hands-on, and serving as final technical authority on cross-domain issues
  • Lead vehicle manufacturing integration and end-of-line validation for body controls components
  • Drive supplier software for networked body controls components: review deliveries against requirements, drive defect triage and resolution with suppliers, and gate release readiness
  • Develop and maintain network databases and interface artifacts (DBC, LDF, ARXML), coordinating with software and systems engineering to satisfy all feature and functional requirements
  • Own interface definition with electrical hardware and distribution teams, creating boundary and block diagrams for body controls subsystems
  • Define and execute integration and validation test plans covering both network behavior and discrete component behavior
  • Support vehicle behavior decomposition into feature, system, and device requirements in JAMA, and maintain traceability from requirement to validation result
  • Mentor engineers across the organization on integration process, hardware reasoning, and requirements quality
You'll have...
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 8+ years in automotive systems integration or comparable electromechanical systems engineering
  • Hands-on experience authoring and releasing network databases for CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and managing their change control across ECUs and suppliers
  • Experience with diagnostics and UDS-based service and configuration routines
  • Component-level hardware fluency, motor and inductive load behavior, transient and fault current, thermal derating, protection circuitry, analog vs. digital input conditioning
  • Strong systems engineering fundamentals, from requirements decomposition and traceability to interface definition and V&V planning
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, DMMs, current probes, power supplies, and other electrical lab equipment
  • First-principles debugging across electrical, software, and mechanical domains
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture, functional safety, and diagnostics processes
  • Ability to influence technical direction across teams and explain engineering rationale to suppliers and leadership
Even better, you may have...
  • Body controls domain experience through a production launch
  • Experience with test automation or scripting (Python, CAPL) to build integration test capabilities
  • Experience with diagnostics and UDS-based service and configuration routines
  • Motor control, current sensing, position/Hall sensing, or anti-pinch algorithm experience
  • Hardware or firmware design inside the component (microprocessor-based design, drivers, RTOS)
  • DFMEA and HARA experience applying ISO 26262 to support homologation

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder...or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

  • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
  • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
  • Tuition assistance
  • Established and active employee resource groups
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service
  • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day
  • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.

This position is a leadership level 6 and ranges from $150,200-$283,500.
