Job summary

Capitol Aggregates, Inc. in San Antonio seeks a Systems Operator I to support safe, efficient operation of cement plant systems. You'll handle material loading, equipment operation, inspections, and housekeeping while coordinating with plant leadership and control room staff.

This role emphasizes safety, MSHA rules, and continuous improvement. You will perform area checks, document logs, and contribute ideas to improve processes, with hazardous environment work and strong attendance requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior experience operating heavy equipment required.
  • Previous experience in cement plant operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate front-end loaders to load raw materials such as marl, limestone, gypsum, clinker, and other materials into designated hoppers or feeders.
  • Inspect heavy equipment and machinery for wear, leaks, and abnormal conditions and perform basic servicing including lubrication and fluid checks.
  • Clean chutes, equipment, machinery, and work areas to maintain safe and efficient operating conditions.
  • Complete safety and maintenance logs and equipment checklists prior to and during equipment operation.
  • Fill or bag material bins supporting raw mill grinding and related systems.
  • Communicate operating status, issues, and needs with the Shift Foreman and Control Room.
  • Perform area equipment checks and update inspection check sheets throughout the shift.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and contribute ideas to enhance efficiency and work processes.
  • Identify and immediately report unsafe conditions and ensure compliance with all safety rules and procedures.

Position Overview

The Systems Operator I performs manual and equipment operation tasks supporting the safe and efficient operation of cement plant systems. This role assists with material handling, equipment operation, inspections, servicing, and housekeeping activities while maintaining communication with plant leadership and control room personnel.   • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate heavy equipment and use hand tools.

Education & Experience

  • Ability to follow direction, react calmly in emergency situations, and maintain focus on safety.
