Responsibilities include performing verification tests, collaborating with the team on quality procedures, and gaining knowledge of design controls and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in BS or MS in a related Systems, Biomedical, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering program and completed 1 full year.
• Must be enrolled in a formal cooperative education (co-op) program at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) or the University of Missouri (Mizzou).
• Must be actively enrolled in a participating university's formal Co-Op Program and meet all university requirements necessary to receive academic co-op credit.

Description

Position Summary

The System Engineering Co-op student will work alongside, and in support of the Systems Engineering team. The system engineering team is a diverse, collaborative group working on the support and/or development of medical devices used to automate in-vitro diagnostic testing usually found in a microbiology laboratory. The engineering co-op student will be supervised by and mentored by the Director, Manager, and Senior engineers within the System Engineering team and the role will include a significant amount of interaction and collaboration with other system development team members.

Primary Duties

• The co-op student will obtain basic knowledge related to medical instrumentation research, design, development, and testing. Candidates will be expected to have general engineering knowledge including the use of standard engineering practices.

• This position will include creation and execution of verification tests, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and evaluating instrument and system issues and design alternatives.

• The co-op student will be given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the bioMérieux Design Control process that addresses US and international regulatory requirements, as well as internal Quality requirements.

• Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Training and Experience

• Must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS Program in a related Systems, Biomedical, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering program and completed 1 full year
• To qualify for this Co-Op position, candidates must be actively enrolled in a participating university's formal Co-Op Program and meet all university requirements necessary to receive academic co-op credit. This includes enrollment in any required co-op course, program, or approval process established by the university. Students are responsible for maintaining eligibility and obtaining all required university approvals throughout the duration of the assignment.
• Must be enrolled in a formal cooperative education (co-op) program at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) or the University of Missouri (Mizzou).

The wage for this role based in Missouri is $23.00/hour. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux's bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
