Job summary

WOOD Federal Solutions is seeking a System Engineer at Level 3 to join our San Antonio team. You will lead systems engineering activities across the ISO/IEC 15288 lifecycle, guiding requirements, architecture, verification, and integration to ensure mission-focused outcomes.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree with six years of systems engineering experience or an equivalent combination. An active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and six years of systems engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288 processes and related technical areas.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.
• Ability to analyze alternatives and develop deliverables across lifecycle stages.
• Experience with government projects and cross-team coordination.

Responsibilities

• Perform systems engineering activities in ISO/IEC 15288 processes.
• Analyze technical alternatives and provide preliminary recommendations.
• Develop and deliver work products across project/process areas.
• Coordinate with government partners and cross-functional teams.

Overview: System Engineer ensures complex systems are built with clarity, consistency, and technical discipline from start to finish. They guide systems through every phase—concept, development, production, utilization, support, and retirement—while navigating technical questions, resolving challenges with Government partners, and keeping communication flowing across teams and leadership. Their work spans the full ISO/IEC 15288 framework, shaping requirements, architecture, integration, verification, planning, risk, configuration, quality, and acquisition activities with precision. Security Clearance Requirements: This position requires all candidates to be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph. Responsibilities * Perform systems engineering activities and assist in the preparation of a work product in Technical Process Areas associated with the ISO/IEC 15288.

• Perform systems engineering activities and assist in the preparation of multiple work products in Project and/or Technical Process Areas associated with any of the ISO/IEC 15288 processes.
• Assist in performing systems engineering activities in the ISO/IEC 15288 Agreement or Enterprise Process Areas.
• Perform analysis of technical alternatives for a project and make preliminary recommendations.
• Develop and deliver a work product in any of the ISO/IEC 15288 Process Areas.
• Perform systems engineering activities and develop and deliver work products of either the ISO/IEC 15288 Agreement or Enterprise Process Areas.
• Independently analyze, and recommend alternatives for elements of project’s technical design.
• Perform systems engineering activities and develop and deliver work products in each of the ISO/IEC 15288 Project and Technical Process Areas.

OR

• A High School Diploma or GED and ten (10) years of general system engineering experience (any Process Area) may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.

OR

• A Master’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of systems engineering experience.

OR

• A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of systems engineering experience.
