Job summary

Reflexive Concepts in Maryland seeks a skilled Systems Engineer to join our DevOps-focused team. You will design, implement, and maintain automation resources across multiple product teams, enabling streamlined build and deployment processes.

The ideal candidate has deep experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, and GitLab CI/CD, and excels at collaborating with developers and stakeholders to improve reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Twenty (20) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity, with demonstrated experience planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
• Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university
• Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree

Responsibilities

• Developing Infrastructure as Code and scripting to automate tasks, provision managed services, and build tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Python)
• Install, configure, and performance-tune Kubernetes and cloud-native logging/metrics tools (e.g., Elasticsearch, Grafana/Prometheus)
• Managing GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate building, testing, and deploying code using GitLab runners and Argo CD
• Managing commercial cloud computing platforms (AWS)
• Communicating and collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders

Reflexive Concepts is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join our team!

Part of a team that designs, implements, and maintains DevOps resources for multiple product teams and enables teams to automate build and deployment where possible. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a deep understanding of the needed technologies and the initiative to learn new skills. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for:

• Developing Infrastructure as Code and scripting to automate tasks, provision managed services, and build tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Python)


• Install, configure, and performance-tune Kubernetes and cloud-native logging/metrics tools (e.g., Elasticsearch, Grafana/Prometheus)


• Managing GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate building, testing, and deploying code using GitLab runners and Argo CD


• Managing commercial cloud computing platforms (AWS)


• Communicating and collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders

Desired Skills:

• Develop and manage GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes


• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure (EC2, Lambdas, EKS, RDS, S3, EFS, EBS) using Terraform and auto-scaling


• Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and reliability


• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and ensure system uptime


• Kubernetes experience with a focus on EKS


• Familiarity with FOSS tools (Elasticsearch, Prometheus/Grafana, PGAdmin) installable in Kubernetes via Helm chart


• Familiarity with Kubernetes storage class types such as GP3, Longhorn, and EBS
