We’re proud to be Great Place to Work® certified—a reflection of our commitment to creating an environment where innovation thrives, and every voice matters.

Join Siemens Mobility as a Systems Engineer – HVAC, Doors, Couplers and become the on‑site technical expert driving the integration of critical passenger rail vehicle systems at our Lexington manufacturing facility. In this highly collaborative role, you will partner with engineering architects, production teams, suppliers, and global colleagues to solve complex challenges and ensure HVAC, door systems, movable steps, gap fillers, lifts, couplers, and gangways are manufactured, tested, and delivered to the highest customer, regulatory, and safety standards—while gaining valuable exposure to rail vehicle design, manufacturing operations, systems integration, and international engineering teams.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Serve as the on‑site systems engineering expert for HVAC, doors, couplers, and gangways throughout vehicle production.
  • Support manufacturing, commissioning, and testing while troubleshooting complex integration challenges and driving timely, root‑cause solutions.
  • Partner with System Architects, engineering leaders, production, quality, and testing teams to maintain technical alignment and resolve issues.
  • Interpret system requirements, engineering documentation, design reviews, and contract deliverables to ensure mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces are properly integrated.
  • Coordinate with North American and European engineering teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to implement engineering changes and improve quality, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship, share best practices, promote accountability and innovation, and some travel to customer, supplier, and Siemens locations.

This posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs.

To thrive in this role, you have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; master’s degree with 2+ years; or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 1+ year.
  • Experience designing, integrating, or supporting complex electromechanical systems, including using 3D CAD software—preferably PTC Creo—and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, production engineering, or industrial environments, with strong problem‑solving skills to resolve technical challenges on the manufacturing floor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences and manage multiple priorities across schedule, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Preferred: experience in rail or similar engineered‑product industries, systems integration, manufacturing, product launches, global teams or suppliers, relevant subsystems and standards, or a PE license.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer‑sponsored work authorization.
