Job summary

Leidos is seeking a System Engineer with systems administration and software engineering experience to join an agile team, delivering system engineering, development, test, and operations support.

The role requires hands-on administration for complex, distributed networks, collaboration across engineering disciplines, and readiness to learn new practices as needed. Clear communication and security clearance are essential.

Qualifications

• BS and 8+ years of prior relevant experience, Master’s with 6 years of prior relevant experience, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 12 years of specialized systems administration experience.
• US Citizenship and a Top Secret / SCI Clearance is required for this position with ability to obtain a Polygraph
• Must be capable of performing systems and software engineering activities in support of agile teams.
• Must be familiar with systems administration roles and functions.
• Must be familiar with secure systems engineering and development.
• Must be familiar with WINDOWS environments.
• Must be comfortable working on multiple systems simultaneously.
• Must have strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Must be committed to adopting and adhering to best practices.
• Must be able to communicate clearly regarding technical options and trade-offs.
• Must be comfortable working both independently and with a team in a fast-moving environment.
• Familiar with shell scripting such as PowerShell or Bash.
• Compliant with DoD 8570 IAT Level II (Security+, SSCP, etc.)
• Familiar with VM ware and Docker environments

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on system administration support for a complex network environment that is locally and geographically distributed.
• Interface with system engineers, integration engineers, test engineers, information assurance engineers, and other project team members in an Agile environment.
• Ensure the proper degree of engineering rigor is applied to all assigned tasks and collaborate with other program professionals.
• Assist with hardware and software troubleshooting, maintenance, virtual environment stand ups, and patch installations.
• Be flexible to learn new practices and apply them, and assist development team with system administration and network support.
