Job summary

AppCard, Inc. in New York City is seeking a System Engineer to provide 1st-3rd line support and hands-on operations expertise in IoT and cloud infrastructure. You will diagnose issues, act as primary technical contact for customers, and help improve our knowledge base, while maintaining excellent client relationships and delivering top-notch support.

This full-time role requires off-hour and weekend support and is based at our NYC office. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field.
• Strong Linux administration skills for mission-critical apps.
• Experience with system performance-monitoring tools.
• Networking knowledge: load balancers, firewalls, VPNs, TCP/IP.
• Experience with AWS Cloud Infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-evolving environment.
• Experience as Technical Support/IT Help Desk or similar.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot Linux-based systems, databases, and networks.
• Serve as primary tech contact for Level 1-3 support.
• Collaborate to document best practices and knowledge base.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including Linux‑based systems, databases, and network configurations
• Serve as the primary technical contact for customer support, delivering Level 1-3 troubleshooting and resolution
• Ability to think beyond the ticket — understanding business impact and contributing to operational improvements
• Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
• Collaborate with internal teams to document best practices and enhance the knowledge base for both internal and external use
• Follow up with clients to ensure their IT systems are fully functional after troubleshooting
• Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals
• Maintain excellent client relationships, ensuring a first-class customer experience

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Strong Linux administration skills, with experience in mission‑critical applications
• Experience and knowledge of system performance‑monitoring tools
• Networking knowledge: Load balancers, firewalls, VPN’s, TCP/IP – troubleshooting, performance tuning
• Passion for learning new technologies and tools in a fast‑evolving environment
• Basic database knowledge (SQL querying and troubleshooting)
• Experience with AWS Cloud Service Infrastructure
• Proven work experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician or similar role
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills with a customer‑first mindset
• Highly motivated, organized, and able to handle multiple priorities effectively
