Akkodis is seeking a highly technical Systems Engineer to lead the definition, architecture, and development of next-generation vehicle features from concept through production. This role focuses on systems engineering, feature definition, architecture development, and software implementation requirements.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in Automotive Systems Engineering and embedded software systems, with experience taking features from concept through production launch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3 years Automotive Systems Engineering experience.
• Minimum 3 years Software Engineering experience for embedded systems.
• Experience taking vehicle features from concept through production.
• Understanding of Systems Engineering V-Model.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end feature development from concept through production implementation.
• Define and document system requirements, functional specifications, and software implementation requirements.
• Develop logical and physical system architectures for vehicle features.
• Create and maintain System Boundary Diagrams, DFMEAs, verification plans, and engineering quality documentation.
• Translate customer and business requirements into engineering deliverables.
• Support software implementation through detailed feature behavior definitions and technical requirements.
• Utilize MBSE methodologies to support architecture development.
• Participate in engineering reviews, technical trade-off discussions, and cross-functional decision-making.
• Collaborate with software, electrical, mechanical, and integration teams to resolve technical issues.
• Support Functional Safety and Cybersecurity assessments as needed.
• Ensure alignment with Systems Engineering V-Model processes throughout development.

Akkodis is proud to partner with a global automotive client who is seeking a highly technical Systems Engineer to lead the definition, architecture, and development of next-generation vehicle features from concept through production. This is an engineering-focused role centered on systems engineering, feature definition, architecture development, and software implementation requirements, rather than software testing or validation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Automotive Systems Engineering and embedded software systems, with proven experience taking complex vehicle features from concept through production launch. You will work closely with software, electrical, mechanical, and vehicle integration teams to translate customer and business needs into robust technical solutions for a contractual opportunity in the Dearborn, MI area (Requires 4 days onsite weekly)

Pay Range: $46/hr. - $50/hr. (W2) - The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

• Minimum 3 years of Software Engineering experience supporting complex embedded systems.
• Experience developing vehicle features from concept through production.
• Strong understanding and practical application of the Systems Engineering V-Model.
• Demonstrated experience writing:
• Functional Specifications
• Implementation Specifications
• Experience creating:
• DFMEAs
• System Boundary Diagrams
• Engineering Quality Documentation
• Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems including:
• CAN Communication
• Vehicle Networking
• Wiring Systems
• Power Distribution
• Body and Chassis Systems
• Experience working across multiple engineering organizations to resolve technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of Automotive Systems Engineering experience.
• Experience leading complete feature ownership throughout the product lifecycle.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
• Experience performing Functional Safety and Cybersecurity assessments.
• Experience supporting software implementation through detailed functional specifications.
• Electrical D&R experience.
• Strong analytical, systems-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and technical decision-making discussions.
• Experience progressing customer use cases through architecture, design, development, testing, and production integration.
