Job summary

Amazon is seeking a System Development Engineer for the Leo Secure Communications Team in Redmond, WA. You will manage OTA and security feature rollout processes across satellite hardware variants, deploying updates, monitoring deployments, and triaging issues to ensure reliable, secure software delivery to all Leo satellites.

You will work hands-on with rollout plans, targeting rules, and automation while developing expertise in large-scale deployment operations and firmware compatibility.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Execute OTA and Security Operation rollouts end-to-end, preparing rollout plans, configuring device targeting and eligibility rules, staging deployments, and monitoring progress through GA.
• Monitor fleet health during rollouts, tracking success/failure rates, device telemetry, and key health indicators, and escalating anomalies per established runbooks.
• Triage deployment failures and stalled updates, diagnosing root causes and coordinating resolution with firmware and operations teams.
• Maintain and improve rollout runbooks, SOPs, checklists, and go/no-go decision criteria.
• Build and maintain operational dashboards and reports for rollout status, fleet coverage, and update adoption metrics.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks, scripting rollout preparation, health checks, and reporting to reduce manual toil and human error.

We're looking for a Systems Engineer to operate and improve the OTA and security feature rollout process that delivers software updates to all Leo Satellites. You'll be hands-on with every release — preparing rollout plans, monitoring deployments, triaging field issues, and ensuring all hardware variants receive the right updates safely.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in operational environments where attention to detail and methodical execution directly impact customer experience. You'll develop deep expertise in Leo fleet behavior, firmware compatibility, and large-scale deployment operations.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
