Job summary

BankUnited in New York seeks a proactive IT Business Analyst to collaborate with department managers, write user stories, and document requirements to align with financial and regulatory goals. You will coordinate with Product Owners, vendors, and development teams within an agile framework, drive test planning, support UAT, and ensure traceability from requirements to delivered solutions.

The role requires experience with Agile/DevOps, vendor management, QA/test coordination, and banking domain

Qualifications

• Experience in gathering user stories and managing backlogs in a DevOps environment.
• Experience with Agile and waterfall software development techniques.
• Experience with vendor management.
• Experience in Quality Assurance, test plans and test coordination preferred.
• 2 - 4 years of Banking experience supporting applications preferred.
• ServiceNOW experience required.
• 1 year of experience working in Cloud AWS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct discovery sessions to gather requirements and help stakeholders to write user stories. Document current state and future state process workflows.
• Work closely with product owners, vendors and development team to define backlogs and lead the team to promote the program.
• Provide strategic and detailed support to the Product Owner on significant projects and initiatives within timelines, budget, and scope under Agile.
• Participate in daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo, and retrospectives.
• Help tracking and removing impediments for the team.
• Shield the Scrum Team from outside distractions and foster a safe environment for issue resolution.
• Collaborate with the business to identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Translate business needs into design docs and specifications for IT to implement.
• Coordinate with vendors to configure third-party solutions for business unit needs.
• Define and coordinate test plans with SQA and ensure traceability from requirements to testing.
• Govern the User Stories dashboard and manage project artifacts for timely approvals.
• Maintain requirements inventory with proper traceability to testing.
• Monitor change management and ensure acceptance criteria before go-live.
• Share best practices to grow the Business Analyst community of practice.
• Build partnerships with business lines to achieve goals and support the team.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for working collaboratively with department managers to implement initiatives/ programs that help meet financial revenue, operating efficiency and strategic goals, as well as regulatory requirements. Drives the business to write user stories and gathers and documents requirements. Acts as a liaison between IT and the business line on assigned projects/initiatives and works closely with the Sr IT Business Analyst Manager and Scrum Master to keep stakeholders informed of progress. Coordinates test plans to meet project requirements and helps drive user acceptance testing to produce quality deliverables.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct discovery sessions to gather requirements and help stakeholders to write user stories. Document current state and future state process workflows.
• Work closely with the product owners, vendors and development team and to define the backlogs and lead the team to promote the program.
• Provide both strategic and detailed support to the Product Owner on significant projects and initiatives. Assist with delivery of initiatives according to agreed upon timeline, budget and scope under an agile framework.
• Participate on daily scrum stand ups, sprint planning, sprint demo, retrospective and Scrum meetings
• Help tracking and removing impediments
• Shield the Scrum Team from outside distractions and interferences. Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on problem-solving
• Proactively collaborate with the business to identify potential process improvements and enhancements that increase efficiencies and decrease costs.
• Translate business needs into design documents and specifications. Prepare detailed specifications from which IT can program application solutions.
• Work with vendors on configuring third party solutions to meet the process needs of the Business Unit.
• Work with the Software Quality Assurance (SQA) team and act as testing coordinator for key initiatives as needed by Application Delivery Manager Define, document the test plan, and coordinate user acceptance testing to help ensure requirements traceability and delivery of a quality solution.
• Govern the User Stories dashboard, prepares project artifacts as required. Ensure timeliness of document approvals by stakeholders and accessibility of project artifacts on the project's tool.
• Ensure requirements inventory is properly maintained on a centralized tool and validate traceability to testing.
• Monitor for proper change management of requirements. Ensure acceptance criteria is met prior to go live deployment of new solutions or enhancements.
• Identify and share best practices to grow the Business Analyst community of practice.
• Establish and maintain business line partnerships. Demonstrate ability to guide focused diverse groups to specified goals.
• Provide support for the team to successfully resolve problems.
• Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
• Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
• Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required

Licenses and Certifications

• Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and/or PMI
