Job description

In this role, the analyst will support teams working in Agile (Kanban and Sprint) as well as traditional Waterfall methodologies for the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The position is expected to handle multiple projects, remain flexible and productive despite changing priorities, and proactively contribute to process improvements. The analyst may also manage small‑scale projects or workstreams as a project coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Work with project team members and business stakeholders to understand business processes and pain points.
• Develop expertise in the customers’ business applications.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis to identify system gaps and deficiencies that require a business, technical or blended approach for resolution.
• Diagram current processes and proposed modifications using process flows, context diagrams and data‑flow diagrams.
• Discover and document requirements and user stories with a focus on improving both business and technical processing.
• Translate business needs into detailed user stories, use cases, process flows, and other artifacts.
• Decompose requirements into epics and features and create clear and concise user stories that are easy to understand and implement by technical staff.
• Possess a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Utilize progressive elaboration; map stories to technical design specifications to be used by internal staff to develop system modifications.
• Identify and group related user stories into themes, document dependencies and associated business processes.
• Manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Assist the Product Owner in maintaining the product backlog.
• Create conceptual prototypes and mock‑ups.
• Develop wireframes and prototypes.
• Propose alternative solutions that balance cost and benefit, and adequately test a solution’s feasibility for business and technical compatibility.
• Collaborate with staff, vendors, consultants, and contractors to formulate, detail and test potential and implemented solutions.
• Perform quality analyst functions such as defining test objectives, test plans and test cases, and executing test cases (including regression testing).
• Coordinate and facilitate user acceptance testing with business stakeholders and inform project managers/scrum masters of progress.
• Assist in validating that system changes align with business requirements.
• Schedule, facilitate, and document meetings with cross‑functional teams.
• Prepare agendas, capture key decisions and action items, and distribute meeting notes.
• Serve as the liaison between business users, project managers, developers, and other stakeholders.
• Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and issues.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience delivering business and systems analysis artifacts.
• 5+ years of experience as an Agile Business Analyst with a strong understanding of Scrum concepts and methodology.
• Experience organizing and maintaining product and sprint backlogs.
• Experience translating client and product strategy requirements into application requirements and user stories.
• Proficient in defining acceptance criteria and managing the acceptance process with development.
• Experience with large, multi‑module systems.
• Expertise with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Project Server).
• Experience with application lifecycle management (ALM) tools.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with proven ability to work well with a diverse set of peers and customers.
• Experience managing projects or workstreams independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Team Foundation Server for agile software development and work item tracking.
• Ability to create low‑ and high‑fidelity wireframes to visually represent user flows and functionality.
• Experience building interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI Desktop.
• Strong experience writing complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation and reporting.
• Certified Scrum Master or equivalent, with experience running sprints and ceremonies.
• Ability to manage small‑scale projects or workstreams independently.
• Experience using tools such as MS Project, JIRA, Confluence or equivalent.
