Job summary

CVTEK, our MPJV, seeks a System Architect to oversee engineering, infrastructure blueprinting, and the architectural transition of a large legacy DoD system. You will analyze hundreds of modules, define dependencies, and map transition paths to a modern DoD environment while maintaining continuous cybersecurity compliance.

Primary work at Ft. Meade, MD, onsite with access to classified environments; active Secret clearance (IT-I/II) eligibility for SIPRNet; DoDAF documentation; eMASS/ATO

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical discipline.
• Active Secret security clearance; IT-I and IT-II eligibility for SIPRNet.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• DoD 8570.01-M / 8140.01 compliant IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
• Demonstrated experience in system architecture and IT engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain as deployed System Architecture Diagrams (DoDAF OV-1, SV-1, SV-2) and release narratives.
• Document Service Operations Annexes (SOX) and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS).
• Architect and support multi-cycle testing and deployment for legacy feature modernization.
• Collaborate with IA teams to document security architecture in eMASS for ATO renewals and enclave compliance.
• Guide DevSecOps pipeline through formal CCB releases for open architectures.
• Serve as Tier III escalation point for architecture-level outages and restoration plans.
• Provide technical oversight for decommissioning plans and data mapping to target environments.
• Contribute to IMS, ISCP, and training curricula.

Our MPJV, CVTEK, is potentially seeking a System Architect to oversee the technical engineering, infrastructure blueprinting, and architectural transition of a large-scale legacy business system. You will be instrumental in analyzing hundreds of software modules, defining system dependencies, and architecting transition pathways to a modern DoD environment while ensuring continuous cybersecurity compliance. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain \"as deployed\" System Architecture Diagrams (including DoDAF OV-1, SV-1, and SV-2 views), comprehensive release narratives, and Interface Design Documents.


• Provide system engineering oversight by documenting Service Operations Annexes (SOX) and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS).


• Architect and support multi-cycle testing and deployment strategies for transitioning critical legacy features to the modernized target environment.


• Collaborate with Information Assurance (IA) teams to ensure security architecture, hardware, software, and Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) are correctly documented in eMASS for ATO renewals and enclave compliance.


• Ensure systems are compatible with open systems architectures, guiding the DevSecOps pipeline through formal CCB releases.


• Serve as a Tier III escalation point for complex, architecture-level system outages, diagnosing root causes and providing restoration plans within mandated SLAs.


• Provide technical oversight for module decommissioning plans, mapping legacy data structures to modernized target environments.


• Contribute to overarching project management and sustainment tasks, including providing architectural inputs for the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), updating the Information Systems Contingency Plan (ISCP), and supporting technical training curricula.

Requirements

• Location: Primary performance at the Contractor Site, with requirements to support classified/unclassified work at Government locations (Ft. Meade, MD).


• Security Clearance: Must possess an active Secret security clearance. This position requires IT-I and IT-II eligibility for SIPRNet/administrative access and the ability to successfully pass enterprise-level background suitability screening. U.S. Citizenship is required.


• Experience: Demonstrated professional experience in relevant system architecture and IT engineering mission area.


• Degree Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (equivalent professional experience may be considered).


• Certifications: DoD 8570.01-M / 8140.01 compliant IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, or equivalent) for IT/IA access required.
