Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Administrator to support our MD customer’s mission in Alexandria, VA. The role involves daily system administration and O&M support activities for a complex network environment. The incumbent will sustain computing and network systems, with a primary focus on the Alexandria site.

Primary Responsibilities

• Handle IT Help Desk calls and emails in a timely, professional manner.
• Utilize enterprise monitoring solutions to identify and address alarms.
• Collaborate with senior technicians to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
• Provide technical assistance to work groups supporting overlapping projects, maintaining inter‑departmental relations.
• Communicate with users and publish status of system outages.
• Proactively contact customers when infrastructure delays may impact business functions.
• Execute the process for managing information assurance vulnerability alerts (IAVAs) and conduct system security scans, identifying and remediating IAVAs rapidly.
• Initiate IAVA responses and system security scans, complete remediation, and apply patches and updates.
• Contribute to documentation to ensure clear, concise, and accurate information for incident resolution.
• Undertake project work and support implementation of IT enhancements.

Required Qualifications

• BS with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 2–6 years of relevant experience. Experience may substitute for a degree.
• Experience with complex equipment/systems such as network switches, routers, LANs, cabling, Windows/Linux OS, VMware.
• Experience in data center design and configuration (rack, power, placement).
• Familiarity with IT system optimization, monitoring, or related technical set‑up and troubleshooting.
• Experience in providing technical documentation for processes.
• Hands‑on experience helping users in an IT or similar customer‑service capacity.
• Ability to respond quickly to customer inquiries with detailed status reports.
• Commitment to best practices, including maintenance windows and change control procedures.
• Strong analytic abilities and meticulous work style.
• Independent thinker capable of working individually and within a team.
• Ability to respond to system administration, operations, and maintenance problems on an as‑needed on‑call basis.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and to report to the Annapolis Junction, MD office at least once per month.
• Clearance required: TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or familiarity with security standards, software architectures, or network security technologies (multiple domains, PKI, SSP, vulnerability assessment).
• Experience supporting a software configuration management and development environment.
• Experience working in an Agile Development Environment or as part of an Agile team.

Pay Range

$87,100.00 - $157,450.00
