Job summary

Core Scientific, a leading compute infrastructure provider, seeks a hands-on Systems Administrator to own the IAM program and support enterprise infrastructure initiatives. You will manage authentication, authorization, access governance, and identity lifecycle, ensuring secure access across systems.

Ideal candidates will design and automate identity solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate cross-functionally to enhance security and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on systems administration experience in a professional environment.
• Deep Identity and Access Management experience: SSO, MFA, directory services, RBAC, and user lifecycle management.
• Experience with SAML, OIDC, and SCIM integrations.
• Scripting ability (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine tasks.
• Ability to work on-site in downtown Austin, TX.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize the IAM stack including SSO, MFA, provisioning/deprovisioning, and access governance.
• Own the Okta environment end to end: integrations, workflows, policy configuration, and lifecycle management.
• Design and maintain automated joiner/mover/leaver processes for accurate access control; ensure auditable records.
• Manage and support endpoint fleets (macOS and Windows) including patching and security baselines.
• Support day-to-day IT operations: SaaS administration, troubleshooting, hardware provisioning, user support.
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance on access reviews and least-privilege initiatives.
• Document systems, processes, and runbooks; avoid single points of failure for knowledge.
• Evaluate and implement tools/integrations to improve reliability and security.
• Foster clear communication within team and with stakeholders.

The Job

We're seeking a versatile, hands-on Systems Administrator to serve as the primary owner of our Identity and Access Management (IAM) program while supporting a broad range of enterprise infrastructure initiatives. This role is responsible for authentication, authorization, access governance, identity lifecycle management, and identity automation across the organization, ensuring employees have secure and reliable access to the systems they need to succeed.

In addition to IAM ownership, this position plays a key role in supporting endpoint management, SaaS platforms, and day-to-day IT operations. Success in this role requires a strong technical foundation, a proactive mindset, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment where priorities and challenges can vary from day to day.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable designing and administering identity solutions, automating processes, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and partnering with cross-functional teams to enhance security, reliability, and the overall employee experience.

This position is fully onsite at our downtown Austin, Texas office.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize our Identity and Access Management stack, serving as the subject matter expert for SSO, MFA, provisioning/deprovisioning, and access governance
• Own the Okta environment end to end: application integrations (SAML/OIDC/SCIM), workflows and automation, policy configuration, and lifecycle management
• Design and maintain automated joiner/mover/leaver processes that keep access accurate, auditable, and secure
• Manage and support endpoint fleets (macOS and Windows), including patching, configuration, and security baselines
• Support day-to-day IT operations: SaaS administration, troubleshooting escalations, hardware provisioning, and user support when needed
• Partner with Security and Compliance teams on access reviews, audit evidence, and least-privilege initiatives
• Document systems, processes, and runbooks so knowledge doesn't live in one person's head
• Evaluate and implement new tools and integrations that improve reliability, security, and the employee experience
• Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of hands-on systems administration experience in a professional environment
• Strong generalist skill set - comfortable across identity, endpoints, SaaS platforms, networking fundamentals, and scripting/automation
• Deep, practical Identity and Access Management experience: SSO, MFA, directory services, RBAC, and user lifecycle management
• Experience integrating applications via SAML, OIDC, and SCIM
• Scripting ability (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to automate routine tasks
• Strong troubleshooting instincts and the ability to work independently across an ambiguous, varied workload
• Clear written and verbal communication - you can explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work on-site full-time in downtown Austin, TX

Preferred

• Okta subject matter expertise - Okta Certified Professional or Administrator certification strongly preferred
• Experience with Okta Workflows or other identity automation tooling
• Jamf Pro experience for macOS device management (nice to have)
• Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune administration experience
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
• Experience supporting a hybrid macOS/Windows environment
