Jobbeschreibung

Okta / Identity and Access Management Engineer

Location: Downtown Austin, TX - onsite (hybrid)

Compensation: $110,000-$130,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus a 15% target annual bonus and equity awards

Employment: Full-time

About the Opportunity

Our client operates large-scale Bitcoin mining facilities and hosts the high-performance computing infrastructure that powers AI workloads. As the business expands its AI data center operations, it is building out the corporate IT team needed to support that growth. We’re seeking an experienced Okta specialist to own and improve its identity platform - strengthening security, automating employee access, and helping a growing organization scale.

This is an opportunity to improve an existing platform, put underused capabilities to work, and establish reliable processes as the organization grows. You’ll work with an IT leader who values collaboration, initiative, and clear ownership—and gives team members room to make decisions and deliver results.

The Role

You will serve as the primary technical owner of Okta, responsible for application integrations, authentication policies, identity lifecycle management, and workflow automation.

Your initial focus will be understanding the current environment, identifying gaps, and working with IT and Security to prioritize improvements. You’ll help move manual processes into dependable workflows, strengthen access controls, and document how the environment operates.

Deep, practical Okta experience is the priority. Additional experience across Microsoft identity services, endpoint management, and enterprise SaaS platforms is valuable, but secondary to your ability to own and improve Okta independently.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the administration, configuration, reliability, and continuous improvement of the Okta environment.
  • Assess existing configurations and licensed capabilities, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement practical solutions.
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot application integrations using SAML, OIDC, and SCIM.
  • Design and improve automated onboarding, employee role changes, and offboarding processes.
  • Develop Okta Workflows and use scripting or APIs to reduce manual administration and improve consistency.
  • Manage SSO, MFA, authentication policies, application assignments, group rules, and attribute mappings.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance on least-privilege access, access reviews, and audit evidence.
  • Troubleshoot complex authentication, provisioning, and integration issues.
  • Create clear documentation, operating procedures, and runbooks.
  • Contribute to broader corporate IT initiatives as needed, drawing on your additional systems administration skills.
What You Bring
  • At least five years of hands-on systems administration, identity engineering, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a production Okta environment, including configuration, troubleshooting, and improvements.
  • Practical experience implementing SSO and automated provisioning through SAML, OIDC, and SCIM.
  • Experience building identity lifecycle automation with Okta Workflows, APIs, or scripting.
  • A strong understanding of MFA, role-based access, directory services, and identity security.
  • The ability to evaluate an existing environment, recommend improvements, and carry work through to completion.
  • Clear communication and documentation skills.
  • A collaborative approach, sound judgment, and a willingness to share knowledge.
  • Availability to work onsite in downtown Austin five days per week.
Additional Experience We Value
  • Okta Certified Professional, Administrator, or other relevant certifications.
  • Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, or Intune.
  • Jamf Pro and mixed macOS/Windows environments.
  • HR-driven identity lifecycle integrations.
  • SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.
  • Broader SaaS administration, endpoint management, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
Work Arrangement

This position is based in downtown Austin. Candidates should be prepared to work onsite five days per week. Adjusted start and end times may be available with manager approval and business coverage requirements.

Occasional after-hours support and limited travel-potentially a few trips per year may be required.

Interview Process

The process generally includes an introductory conversation with the hiring manager, a technical panel or individual technical discussions, and a final conversation with IT leadership. Initial and technical interviews may be conducted remotely.
