Job summary

Applied Statistics & Management Inc. in Temecula, CA is seeking a System Administrator to maintain a modern SaaS hosting environment spanning Windows Server, VMware, and Azure.

You will own system hardening, patch management, and security posture in a SOC 2/HIPAA context, working with Development and Management to scale the infrastructure. You will support audits, perform off-hours maintenance, and participate in 24/7 on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in system administration or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong understanding of operating systems, file systems, networking, firewalls, and security configurations.
• Experience configuring and managing Windows Server and IIS environments using automation.
• Experience administering and deploying resources in Azure.
• Experience managing Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• VMware vSphere and vSAN configuration and management.
• Experience managing Windows updates and patching at scale.
• Proficiency automating tasks with PowerShell.
• Experience with HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST, or FedRAMP compliance and supporting audits.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and document infrastructure including Windows servers, VMware, Azure, Cisco switching, and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Manage user and group access in Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory.
• Own patch management for Windows Servers, VMware, and network devices; automate it.
• Maintain and improve system hardening standards based on best practices and vulnerabilities.
• Troubleshoot issues from monitoring or users and resolve.
• Support security and compliance audits and assessments; explain security posture to clients.
• Perform maintenance during off-hours to minimize disruption.
• Respond to high-severity after-hours alerts affecting security or availability.
