Job summary

Wolverine Staffing seeks a Jr. SysOps/Systems Engineer in Dexter, ME to support Linux/Windows administration and open-source initiatives. You will collaborate with developers and SysOps to optimize systems, with training conducted on-site before transitioning to a flexible work setup.

Role emphasizes backups, security, redundancy, and high availability, plus documentation and clear communication. Bonus experience includes OpenStack, Ceph, and automation tooling.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor infrastructure and system installations including configurations and maintenance.

• Perform root-cause analysis for service interruptions and preventive actions.
• Apply Linux/Windows administration practices and version control workflows.

Job Summary

We are currently seeking an energetic Jr. SysOps/Systems Engineer who is self-motivated and is familiar or attracted to open-source approaches and methodologies (listed in the Bonus Experience section below) and can help with using these to collaborate with existing developers and Sysops teams on current and future efforts to infuse new ideas and strategies and optimize our products and methods.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor all infrastructure and system installations, including configurations, testing, and maintenance

• Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components, and update the design, maintenance, and support procedures for routine tasks

• Implement and maintain backups, security, and redundancy strategies

• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability

• Conduct root-cause analysis for service interruption and help establish preventive measures

• Knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration

• Knowledge of Git or other version control

• Good time management skills

• An ability to follow processes

• Strong documentation skills

• Good communication skills both written and verbal

Bonus Experience

• Ability to deploy company LANs, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, WLCs, WAPs, UPSs, switches, WAN accelerators, amongst other networking tasks could come into play with this position.
