The Sylvan Learning Center in Coralville is seeking teachers to deliver Sylvan program-based instruction in math and reading. You will prepare sessions, greet students, instruct, and monitor progress to ensure a personal learning experience for each student.
Candidates include those working toward a teaching degree or holding a four-year degree with credentials. Preference for Monday and Saturday shifts; opportunity to train in admin duties as needed.
Our Sylvan of Coralville operational hours during the School Year are as follows:
Monday-Thursdays: 3:30-7:30
Saturdays: 9:30-11:30
Sundays: 12:30-4:30
We ask you to consider your schedule before applying- preference will be given to candidates who are available specifically for Monday and Saturday shifts. We are also looking for staff who feel comfortable tutoring math through Algebra II and Geometry, as well as individuals who are willing to also train in Admin responsibilities (answering the phone, taking attendance, managing the instructional floor, etc) and willing to work in either capacity during a shift.
The Sylvan Teacher is responsible for creating a positive personal learning experience for students by teaching students using Sylvan program materials. Using the program materials, the teacher creates balanced and robust learning experiences for students. The Sylvan Teacher evaluates student progress on each assignment, communicates this progress, and works with Center staff to ensure learning is personal for each student.
