Job summary

The Sylvan Learning Center in Ames, IA is seeking a Sylvan Teacher to create a positive, personalized learning experience for students using Sylvan program materials. You will evaluate progress on assignments, communicate results, and collaborate with Center staff to tailor learning for each child.

You will prepare for sessions, engage students, and ensure safe, effective instruction while meeting Sylvan program standards and completing required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for instructional sessions and gathers materials.
• Greet students and initiate instruction to engage each student.
• Instructs students according to Sylvan program design.
• Manages students, tasks and time for a robust session.
• Evaluates and records student progress on the program.
• Uses praise to keep students engaged and inspired to learn.
• Records tokens earned by students and tracks progress.
• Concludes sessions and completes learning logs and transitions.
• Communicates student needs to Center staff.
• Attends staff meetings and ongoing training; completes program certification.
