Prospect Schools seeks a SY 26-27 6-8 Reading Interventionist to deliver inclusive literacy instruction and targeted support. You will work in an IB-aligned, equity-driven environment, teaching a MS Reading Enrichment class and ES literacy support daily while collaborating with instructional leaders.

The role emphasizes data-driven planning, culturally responsive practice, and family partnership to support student growth and reading proficiency in a diverse Brooklyn setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Experience with the science of reading.
• New York Teaching License Certification required or in progress.
• SpEd certification is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons for a diverse middle school.
• Teach MS Reading Enrichment and ES literacy support daily, with small groups.
• Collaborate with co-teachers and instructional leaders for professional development.
• Build partnerships with caregivers and communicate student progress regularly.

The Opportunity

Prospect Schools is seeking a SY 26-27 6-8 Reading Interventionist to provide engaging, inclusive literacy instruction and targeted support that helps students strengthen their reading skills, build confidence, develop critical thinking abilities, and foster a lifelong love of learning. Prospect teachers are grounded in an equity-driven approach following the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum where instruction emphasizes academic rigor, critical thinking, global mindedness, and inclusive classroom practices. As an educator at Prospect, you will be part of a collaborative and high-performing instructional team and will report directly to a member of the school leadership team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Planning and Instruction

• Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles
• Teach 4 sections of a MS Reading Enrichment class that will meet daily and the equivalent of 2-3 sections of ES literacy support a day, working with small groups of students .
• Utilize data, strong content knowledge, and effective pedagogy to plan clear, objective-driven instruction to advance learning for all students
• Collaborate with co-teachers and instructional leaders through coaching, professional development, and, when applicable, advisory groups to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth

Classroom Environment

• Set clear expectations and consistent routines to create a purposeful, warm, and supportive learning environment
• Build a culturally sustaining classroom community where all students feel known, safe, valued, and respected by adults and peers

Staff Collaboration

• Embody a "Team First" mindset by collaborating across grade level and content teams, participating in professional development, and partnering with the broader school community
• Demonstrate a commitment to giving and receiving feedback for the purpose of continuous personal growth and betterment of the teaching and learning team

Caregiver Partnership

• Build strong partnerships with caregivers through consistent communication and regular updates on student progress
• Use caregiver feedback to continuously improve instruction and the overall learning experience
• Coordinate and facilitate family meetings as needed and attend any/all school wide caregiver events

About You

• You have earned a Bachelors Degree.
• You have prior teaching experience.
• You have experience with the science of reading.
• SpEd certification is highly preferred.
• You are in the process of earning or have earned a New York Teaching License Certification. (Learn more here )

Salary

The salary range for this role starts at $63,960, then increases based on years of experience. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role.
