Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Switchboard Operator 3 for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois, to coordinate the operations of the Center's Switchboard providing telephone services facility-wide. Implements new procedures to increase efficiency in services. Serves as a working supervisor to lower-level switchboard operators.
Essential Functions
Coordinates the operations of the Elisabeth Ludeman Developmental Center Switchboard providing telephone services facility-wide.
Serves as a working supervisor.
Prepares outgoing mail.
Monitors paging system, including recording of pager locations and arranging for repair of pagers.
Implements new procedures to increase efficiency in services.
Updates Switchboard Manual as changes or additions occur.
Produces weekly computer traffic control reports, clears computer telephone log, and oversees accuracy of computerized Ludeman staff directory.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years high school.
Requires two (2) years' experience as a telephone operator.
Conditions of Employment
Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm, 30-minute paid lunch, 30 minutes Overtime pay
