Job summary

Roberts Automatic Products in Minnesota seeks an experienced CNC/Swiss machine Set-Up Person for 1st and 2nd shifts. You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot Swiss and CNC equipment on a 4-day work week with paid lunch.

Responsibilities emphasize setup (75%), basic operation (15%), additional duties (10%). Training an apprentice, reading blueprints, and following workmanship standards. Benefits include full medical, dental, 401(k) after 30 days and paid time off starting on hire.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set-up machines following layouts, blueprints and work orders.
• Fine tune machine until product passes first inspection.
• Operate machine if required.
• Read, understand workmanship standards and fill out work orders.
• Identify nonconforming product or material.
• Wash tools and return to storage area.
• Communicate with maintenance as required by supervisor.
• Assist with training of Operator apprentices.

We are looking for an experienced SWISS Machine Set-Up Person to join our team on both 1st and 2nd shifts. Come and enjoy a 4-day work week with a paid lunch!

Job Title:

CNC/Swiss machine Set-Up Person

Reports to:

Production Manager

Shift:

1st Shift, Monday-Thursday: 5:00am-3:00pm

2nd Shift, Monday-Thursday: 3:00pm-1:00am

General Description:

Set-up, operate, and trouble shoot CNC and SWISS style machines

Responsibilities: (75% Set-Up; 15% Operating, 10% Other Duties)

• Set-up machines following layouts, blueprints and according to work order
• Fine tune machine until product passes first inspection
• Operate machine if required
• Read, understand information in workmanship standards
• Fill out appropriate sections of work order
• Handle, store, use micrometers, calipers, gages appropriately
• Perform and document Roberts inspection procedures when appropriate (SPC charts, work orders, move tickets)
• Identify nonconforming product or material
• Wash tools and return to storage area
• Oil, lube, clean and perform minor repairs as needed
• Communicate with tool room or maintenance as required by supervisor
• Assist with training of Operator persons as needed
• Know and follow safety standards
• Participate in corrective actions as required
• Move parts to next operation
• Remove scrap
• Operate pallet trucks
• Provide coaching and guidance to Set-Up Apprentice, as required
• Other duties as required

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:

• Indoor conditions, noise, hazards, odors, toxic conditions, dust, and periods of travel to support company's international facilities may be required

Job Qualification Requirements:

• Knowledge
  • High school graduate or equivalent; reading, basic math, blueprint reading
  • CNC or Swiss machine experience
  • Tool design, machine repair helpful

  • Training Period: 3 months to a year

  • CNC, Swiss, hand tools, measuring instruments, surface and bench grinders. Lathe, mill, and drill press experience helpful

  • Written and verbal work instructions, workmanship standards book (engineer drawings), quality control documentation (work orders, move tickets)

**Start earning PTO from the first date of hire, 80 hrs. PTO the first year, plus 72 hrs. Holiday and 3 paid sick days per year. Full benefits start after 30 days: Medical, Dental, 401K, short- and long-term disability and life insurance**
