Job summary

Talnt is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer & Setup Technician (Swiss CNC) in Plainview, NY to support precision medical device manufacturing. The role centers on programming, setting up, and optimizing Swiss-style machines, with emphasis on Tornos equipment.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure production readiness and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has 5+ years operating Swiss CNC machines, 3+ years of CNC setup, and 2+ years of programming

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience operating Swiss CNC machines in a precision setting.
• 3+ years of CNC setup experience with strong Tornos expertise.
• 2+ years of CNC programming experience, preferably Swiss-style machines.
• Solid proficiency in CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and blueprints/GD&T.
• Ability to select tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies for precision parts.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for Swiss-style machines with emphasis on Tornos equipment.
• Perform complete machine setups including tooling, workholding, offsets, and verification.
• Develop machining processes for new products and improve existing methods.
• Select tools, fixtures, and workholding to maximize productivity and quality.
• Optimize cycle times and machining parameters to reduce costs.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program issues to minimize downtime.
• Conduct first article inspections and validate processes before production release.
• Train operators on setups, tooling, and processes; update programs with modern techniques.
• Maintain compliance with quality standards and engineering drawings.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to meet goals and drive improvements.
• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives in the machining department.
