Overview

Job Title: Swing Shift Journeyman Mechanic

Division: Equipment

Supervisor: Shop Supervisor

Job Summary: Under limited supervision from the shop foreman, the journeyman mechanic is responsible for performing work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment, and overseeing special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.
• Direct the work of several projects.
• Welding and fabrication.
• Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles and equipment; perform major engine and transmission repairs and replacements as well as electrical diagnosis.
• Perform plant inspections, diagnose any problems, and perform plant maintenance, including electrical.
• Complete major road calls and perform field repairs.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports.
• Maintain tools as required to do the job.
• Operate forklift.
• Maintain insurable driving record.
• Ensure a safe and healthful work environment at all time.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Three years journeyman experience and/or two year diesel mechanic certificate preferred.
• Maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and department of transportation (DOT) medical card, preferred but not required.

Will also be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and a variety of lighting conditions, from dim to light.
