Job summary

Pratt Industries, Inc. is seeking a Heavy-Duty Truck Driver responsible for collecting commercial and residential waste and recyclables. You will operate vehicles, perform inspections, and ensure safe, efficient routing in accordance with safety policies.

Responsibilities include maintaining logs, communicating with Dispatch, and ensuring customer locations are left clean after service. A valid CDL, safe driving history, physical stamina, and willingness to work flexible hours are required.

Qualifications

• CDL required with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and operate equipment safely.
• Must maintain safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Able to work a flexible schedule when requested.
• Demonstrated knowledge of recycling processes and materials is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty trucks in compliance with Pratt Recycling safety, OSHA and DOT rules.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and document checks.
• Report unsafe conditions to Route Manager or Dispatch.
• Attend required trainings and meetings.
• Assist in improving route efficiency with Route Manager.
• Notify Route Manager of incidents, delays, or accessibility issues.
• Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
• Completely dump receptacles and leave premises clean.
• Follow route assignments and complete end-of-day paperwork.
• Operate all trucks in the fleet and monitor vehicle gauges.
• Load and unload as required and empty trucks at disposal sites.
• Keep truck and compactor clean and adhere to safety guidelines.

Job description

Position Summary:

Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks and are responsible for the collection of commercial and/or residential household waste or recyclable material. Driver will transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity. Driver safely maneuvers vehicle in residential environments. Navigates high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots.

Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:

• Operates vehicle in accordance with Pratt Recycling Safety and OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report). .
• Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
• Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by Pratt Recycling or directed by the Route Manager.
• Works closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Notifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
• Notifies Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards.
• Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
• Completely dumps all receptacles and leaves the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
• Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process.
• Must be able to operate all trucks in fleet.

• Demonstrated knowledge of commingled collection processes and allowable materials.
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper loading and transportation and shipping procedures for commodities.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Commercial Driver's license and safe driving record.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs.
