Job summary

YMCA of Dane County is seeking a Swim Team Coach to develop and improve the technical and physical swimming skills of youth in a safe and enjoyable environment. The role involves planning practice sessions, managing meets and promoting healthy competition in alignment with YMCA mission and best practices.

The coach will recruit volunteers, coordinate with parents, supervise behavior, and help deliver high-quality swim programs for ages 7–12, while upholding the core YMCA values of Caring,

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Knowledge of USA Swimming, YMCA Competitive Sports rules and related guidelines.
Ability to communicate professionally with members, staff and supervisors.
Ability to lead and motivate participants with varying abilities and needs.
Maintain current certifications within the indicated time frame (within 60 days of hire).

Responsibilities

Develops and plans swim practice sessions for the 7–12 age group.
Involves athletes in meet information, entries, registrations and warm ups.
Maintains safety and enforces YMCA policies during all activities.
Documents attendance and conducts regular accountability checks.
Recruits parents to volunteer for meets and team events.
Prepares preseason plan including recruitment, schedule and apparel.
