Job summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a Swim Team Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in delivering competitive and/or recreational swimming programs. You will help implement instruction, ensure safety, and foster a positive environment for swimmers and families.

Minimum 16 years old with a background in competitive swimming; strong teaching skills and effective communication are essential, along with YMCA certifications or willingness to obtain them.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 and background in competitive swimming as coach or swimmer.
• Able to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
• 1 year coaching experience with various ages preferred.
• Excellent teaching skills with knowledge of training and stroke development.
• Demonstrate YMCA ideals, leadership, and professional image.

Responsibilities

• Teach all groups by implementing a plan from the Head Coach.
• Evaluate swimmers' goals and provide feedback to individuals and the team.
• Support volunteer recruitment, parent communication, and roster input.
• Support community involvement, fundraising, and events.
• Maintain records of achievements and progress; attend meetings.
• Represent the YMCA at meets and community events; ensure safety of participants.
