Job summary

Sarasota Sharks, Inc. is seeking a part-time Swim School Instructor to conduct group and private swim lessons. This role involves teaching swimmers of all ages and ensuring a safe and positive learning environment. Qualifications include current CPR/AED and first-aid certifications, and successful completion of the ASCASwimAmerica™Online Coaches Course within 30 days. The position offers opportunities for professional development and free monthly swim memberships.

Qualifications

• Must complete and pass the ASCASwimAmerica™Online Coaches Course within 30 days of hire.
• Must have current CPR/AED and first-aid certifications or the ability to acquire them within 30 days.
• Must be 16 years of age or older (15 years with lifeguard certification).
• Previous swimming or instructional experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group and private swim lessons in a safe, supportive environment.
• Maintain communication with the Site Supervisor regarding program issues.
• Respond to emergencies, injuries, and illnesses as they arise.
• Set up and clean up lesson equipment and pool configuration.

Swim SchoolInstructor

Our Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™Swim SchoolInstructor and Coacheseagerly and enthusiastically conduct group and private swim lessons in a safe and fun teaching environment. We teach swimmers of all ages and abilities appropriate skills according to the Sarasota SharksSwimAmerica™Swim School curriculum, culture and philosophy. This part-time position has a variable schedule and reports to theSarasota Sharks Site Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Conduct group and private swim lessons in a safe, supportive, positive and motivating learning environment.

• Instruct and teachstudentsof all ages and abilities with appropriate skills according to the Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™Swim School curriculum, culture and philosophy.

• Attend instructional swim staff meetings andtrainingas required and directed.

• Maintain regular open communication with theSite Supervisorregarding issues related to the program.

• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

• Maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff.

• Check the pool for hazardous conditions whenarriving andset upand clean-up of lesson equipment and changeover of pool configuration.

• Respond to emergencies, injuries, and illnesses as they arise.

• Otherdutiesassigned by Site Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS

• Must complete and pass the ASCASwimAmerica™Online Coaches Course within 30 days of hire (paid for by Sarasota SharksSwimAmerica™Swim School).

• Must have current CPR/AED and first-aid certifications, or ability to acquire within 30 days of hire. Lifeguard certification is a plus.

• Excellentverbal and writtencommunication skills.

• Must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform policy.

• Experience working with childrenis preferred.

• Must be 16 years of age or older (15 years with lifeguard certification).

• Previous swimming or instructional experience is highly preferred.

• Must have a strong interest and passion for teachingchildren andbe in the water for a3-4hourshift.

• Must have transportation and be punctual and reliable.
