Job summary

Charlotte Country Day School Athletics is seeking a Swim Lessons Instructor in Charlotte, NC. Immediate start; hourly pay $15.00–$20.00, non-exempt, part-time, with paid training and flexible scheduling.

The instructor will lead swim lessons for various skill levels, coordinate make-up classes, and maintain safety and progress records under the Aquatics Manager. Prior teaching experience not required, but enthusiasm with children is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Previous teaching experience is not required, but must enjoy working with children and have a positive, fun personality
• Must present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Position requires walking, squatting, pushing (up to 50 lbs), pulling (up to 50 lbs), use of sight and vocal projection, standing, carrying (up to 50lbs), and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
• No competitive swim team experience needed
• Must successfully complete instructor training
• Must successfully complete, and maintain certifications as deemed necessary by the aquatics manager.
• Must successfully complete at least 4 hours teaching under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager or an experienced instructor before leading a class independently

Responsibilities

• Teach swim lessons according to the Country Day program standards under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager
• Create a positive learning environment with enthusiasm
• Maintain swimmer safety by enforcing rules during lessons
• Keep accurate attendance records and track skills for each student
• Provide students with written progress records
• Use swim aids to maximize each student’s practice time
• Follow written lesson plans and use class time efficiently
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service training
• Contribute to program evaluations
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisor
